Please go to www.studyinaustralia.gov.au How big is Eynesbury and how many students do you have? Eynesbury is an institution which has both Australian and International students. In 2007 there were 240 Australian and 908 International students at Eynesbury. The Australian students were mostly enrolled in our Senior Secondary programs. Of the International students:
Will I be able to meet Australian students? Except, of course, in our English Language (ELICOS) courses and Accelerated Foundation Studies programs, you will share your class with Australian students. Students enrolled in an ELICOS course will have plenty of opportunities to meet Australian students studying on the same campus. How many class hours will I have per week? The number of hours you will be in class each week depends on the course you are taking. Here is a guide:
Yes, you can study part-time for a period up to 12 weeks, but only if you are enrolled in our ELICOS program and only if you have the appropriate Visa - a Visitor or Working Holiday Visa. If you have a Student Visa, which is optional for ELICOS and required for all other programs at Eynesbury, the Australian Government requires you to attend at least 80% of classes, which effectively means that you have to be a full-time student. You will find that all the classrooms at Eynesbury are very comfortable indeed . They are spacious and bright, they have natural light with good-sized windows, and they are air-conditioned and heated. The furniture is modern and flexible. Do you have qualified teachers? The Eynesbury Directors take great care to appoint teachers who are not only highly qualified in their field, but also experienced and interested in working with International students. The Directors personally interview and select all the staff to ensure that everyone who works at Eynesbury understands the emphasis we place on supporting students who have had most of their previous education in systems that are different from the Australian one and that everyone is capable of helping international students learn effectively. Eynesbury also provides regular in-service training sessions for its staff, where special emphasis is placed on issues related to working with international students. The result is that students at Eynesbury not only have an excellent success rate, but they also feel comfortable in their studies and enjoy their time with us. This question applies in particular to English Language (ELICOS) students, for whom Eynesbury offers 6 levels of study:
When you apply for an ELICOS course you are asked to state on the Application Form what level of English proficiency you think you have at at the moment. When you arrive in Adelaide you will be given a placement test and an interview, where we will discuss with you what level would be most appropriate for you. Of course, if you find that the class we have recommended is too easy or too difficult for you, it is always possible to change to another class. All you need to do is discuss it with your teacher and the Director of Studies. Can I continue learning after class? Students at Eynesbury often continue learning after class by working in our Resource Centre, which includes an extensive library and a well-equipped computer suite. The Resource Centre is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm every working day. In addition to this, Eynesbury teachers are avalaible after class to help students, and when you require individual tuition in a particular subject this can be easily arranged. You should not pay by cheque. What should I do to get an Australian visa? You need to contact the Australian Embassy in your country to apply for a Visa. If you want a Student Visa you will need to send them our Confirmation of Enrolment, which we will issue you once you have paid the course fees. If you want a Visitor Visa or a Working Holiday Visa, you do not need a Confirmation of Enrolment. Click here for a summary of the steps to an visa. Can I get a student visa when already in Australia? Yes, if you have arrived in Australia on a Visitor or Working Holiday Visa, you can apply for a Student Visa while you are here, except in the case of people from those countries with Assessment Levels 2, 3 or 4 or Student visa processing. Such an application will, of course, involve extra costs. What happens if I have enrolled but don't get a visa? If the Australian Embassy does not issue you a visa, which is unusual, the fees you have paid will be refunded in full. What happens if I cancel my enrolment? If you cancel your enrolment more than 28 days before the course starts, you will be refunded 90% of your tuition fees. If you cancel your enrolment less than 28 days before the start of the course, you will receive a refund of 80% of the tuition fees. If you cancel your enrolment after the course has started, we cannot give you a refund. The Administration Fee of A$ 150 is non-refundable.
For more details refer to our Publications and Policies page. Changing programs is easy at Eynesbury: this is part of the"Eynesbury Advantage". Eynesbury has qualified and experienced counsellors who will help you work out the most appropriate program for you and discuss what your options are if you want to change the program you have enrolled for. For example, if you have completed Year 11 or have started Year 12 in our Senior Secondary program leading to the South Australian Certificate of Education, and you find the course too difficult or you feel you are not coping with the range of subjects, then it is usually easy to change over, for example, to the Certificate IV program. Am I allowed to work while studying at Eynesbury? From 26 April 2008, people granted student visas will automatically receive permission to work with their visa grant. Most student visa holders will no longer need to apply separately in Australia for permission to work. Click here for more information. Can I bring my partner (and children)? Yes, you can and we will help you make this possible. Whether you get permission to bring your partner and children to Australia depends, of course, on the Australian Department of Immigration, so it is wise to ask the Embassy in your home country for advice first. A limited number of part-tuition scholarships are available each year for programs at Eynesbury College and the Eynesbury Institute of Business & Technology. The scholarships are based on academic merit and applications must be accompanied by the relevant program application form which should include certified copies of academic results. Eynesbury has an accommodation placement service available to international students in Homestay (living with an Australian family) or international student residences (either full or part board). If accommodation is booked through the Eynesbury service, arrangements will be made for an airport pick up on arrival and provide an accommodation/orientation pack to help prepare you for your stay in Australia. Orientation programs are run on the first day at Eynesbury providing you information about chosen courses, university entry and studying in Australia, timetables, book requirements, assessment and subjects. This provides an opportunity to meet the people who will be teaching and studying at Eynesbury. What happens if a student fails a subject at Diploma level? The University of Adelaide*, Flinders University and the University of South Australia allow Diploma students to repeat a subject twice . Can Eynesbury students use the facilities of the partner universities? Students enrolled in the South Australian Universities' Foundation Studies Program have full right of access to the facilities at their chosen university including use of their library and computer facilities. What guarantee is there that the student can progress to our partner university? Foundation Studies Program students are given provisional admission to their choice from the three universities (The University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia) subject to their performance. Admission is confirmed when students complete the program and achieve the necessary entry score for that degree as set by the University. The Diploma program offerd by the Eynesbury Institute of Business and Technology comprises the same eight courses which constitute the first year of a Bachelor degree at the University of South Australia. Successful completion of the Diploma allows students to qualify for the equivalent of one full year of advanced standing (ie. Year 2) on entry into the full range of Bachelor degree programs in Business, Accounting, Computer and Information Technology at the University of South Australia, Flinders University and The University of Adelaide. Local students need to be processed through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) but all of our local diploma graduates have been awarded places thus far. What is the process for application to the partner universities? Applicants for the Foundation Studies Program should state their desired university undergraduate program on their Eynesbury application form. Students undertaking the Diploma program at EIBT will be assisted by our Academic Advisors on reaching the completion of their Diploma program. Which other universities/degrees can I articulate into? The South Australian Universities' Foundation Studies Program (FSP) is provided by Eynesbury College and owned by The University of Adelaide. Graduates of the FSP with the appropriate university prerequisites are admitted into first year of bachelor programs of The University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia. Eynesbury College is currently in the process of formalising articulation arrangements with the other members of the Group of Eight universities in Australia. Graduates of the Eynesbury Institute of Business and Technology (EIBT) Diploma of Business and Diploma of Computing and IT have advanced standing of one year for the relevant degree programs at The University of South Australia, Flinders University and The University of Adelaide* (*conditions apply). What type of accommodation does Eynesbury International offer? For mor information, click here. The Australian Government changed the regulations for student visas on December 1, 1998. Under the new regulations the initial student visa does not allow a student to work. However, on arrival in Australia permission can be granted to work, if evidence is produced that the course has started then a separate application on Form 157P for another student visa with permission to work.
