13 WEEKS (plus 38 weeks standard course) - University FSP Standard Course commences in February of the year following enrolment. The Extended FSP, commencing in October, has been designed for students who require some additional language and communication studies and revision in key academic areas as preparation for the Standard FSP commencing in January. Term 1 Students take the first term (13 weeks) in separate classes specifically designed for Extended Foundation students with a focus on key competencies, skills and content essential for success at Foundation level. During this term, students take three 10 week core courses (compulsory) and the equivalent of two 10 week elective courses. Core Courses The following three courses are compulsory for all Foundation students:
Elective Courses Students select up to four courses from the following introductory areas:
Terms 2-5 In January, successful Extended Program students join students from the Standard Foundation Studies Program and are integrated into some classes with local and international Year 12 students for Elective courses. Student Achievement Score Assessment is conducted in two stages:
Assessment at both stages is based on 50% continuous assessment and 50% for examinations. Results in Stage 1 are used to assess successful transition to Stage 2. They are not used for the final assessment in Stage 2 or transition to University. |
