These core courses count as 200 of the final achievement score out of 500. Elective Courses Depending on their degree pathway, students taking the Standard FSP (starting in January) may choose electives from any stream. Each elective course comprises 4 contact hours per week. Engineering students are required to take Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics. Some Engineering and Health Science programs also require Chemistry. These pre-requisites may change and students are advised to consult the prospectus of each university for the latest requirements. All students must take at least three elective courses:
Student Achievement Score Student assessments for Standard FSP are based on work completed throughout the year and on a final examination held at the end of the course. Each full course is marked out of 100 and the marks of the two half courses are added together and counted as one full course. An aggregate score out of 500 is calculated. For students taking three electives this is a simple addition of all marks. Students must achieve a score of 60% or more in Language and Communication and 275 overall to be considered for admission, subject to entry scores and quotas. Related links:
