Flinders University crestThink, Learn, Lead, Link

Established in 1966, Flinders University welcomes international students into all of its undergraduate programs. There are currently students from more than 70 countries on its Adelaide campus, making 14% of the total student population. International student enrolments have doubled over the past 5 years. The students enjoy studying on a multicultural campus where cultural diversity is actively celebrated.

Flinders is situated just 20 minutes south of Adelaide’s city centre in a safe, attractive location. Regular bus services run from the heart of the campus to the city, the near by beaches and the largest shopping centre in South Australia.

The 180-hectare campus is one of Australia’s most beautiful, offering panoramic views of Adelaide’s city, coast and suburbs. Modern buildings and facilities are set in spacious grounds of natural Australian bush, a pine forest, formal gardens, a tree-fringed lake and sweeping lawns. Most buildings feature a central courtyard, where students gather between lectures.

The campus is like a mini city, with shops, a post office, bank, pharmacy, book store, travel agent, laundromat, music listening room, religious centre and Muslim prayer rooms, as well as traditional student services such as refectories and a sports centre. The refectories have an exciting cafe-style atmosphere.

Flinders University offers a wide range of courses that reflect the needs of today’s students, whether their interests are in the arts, the sciences or business. All of our courses are designed to be relevant to modern society and to the needs of those being taught, whatever their background, and we believe teaching and research should go hand in hand. That means our students work with academic staff members who are leaders in their fields - and a good staff-student ratio allows regular contact.

While there continues to be a strong focus on regular direct contact between staff and students, many courses use new information and communication technologies to supplement face-to-face teaching and provide more flexible options. The Student Learning Centre provides study support and skills development to complement the teaching provided by our academic staff. We put great emphasis on producing graduates who are ready to step into the workplace. About one-third of our students undertake work experience or practicum placements as part of their study program.
